The Mission

Accountability Through Facts

Bench Receipts exists for one reason: to document what happens when judges hand down sentences that don't match the crime. No opinions. No spin. Just the facts — the crime, the guidelines, and the sentence.

Every case on this site is sourced from public records, news reports, and court documents. We track the judge, the crime, what the sentencing guidelines recommend, and what the judge actually gave. When someone re-offends after a lenient sentence, we document that too.

"We keep the receipts."

How It Works

1. We Find the Story
Cases surface through news reports, court records, and community tips.
2. We Verify the Facts
We confirm the judge, the crime, the sentence, and the sentencing guidelines through public records.
3. We Document Everything
Every case gets a profile with sources. Every judge gets a record. The receipts don't lie.
4. We Track the Outcome
When a defendant re-offends after a lenient sentence, we update the record. Pattern → documented.

Have a Tip?

Know about a case where a judge handed down a sentence well below the guidelines? Send it our way. We verify everything before it goes on the site.
